Known growing tea areas in Sri Lanka

The traditional Ceylon black tea is mainly grown in the south of the island Sri Lanka. The tea kept the name of the in 1972 renamed island.

Sri Lanka produces tea all through the year. Dimbula, Nuwara Eliya and Uva are the most known districts. Within this small area Sri Lanka offers a large variety of different teas which are influenced by the east and west monsoon as well as by the elevation it is grown on. The high grown teas are characterized by their astringent taste whereas the medium and low grown teas are more mellow.
